CrossFit North Houston
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning system built on constantly varied, if not randomized, functional movements executed at high intensity. CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience.
CrossFit North Houston has a powerhouse team managed by Chelsea Estes and Trea Drake.
More about Chelsea in her own words….
“First, I attended Indian River Community College, on Full scholarship, in south Florida, Ft. Pierce. It was a brutal two years of hard core training to improve my times and help myself earn a full ride at a University. It worked, I improved all my times, got stronger, faster and won a total of 13 National Junior College Championship Titles all top three awards, nine of which were gold medals. I chose to attend University of North Florida, as they say I wanted to be a Big Fish in a Little Pond, where I graduated in 2007. I was also team captain at both schools.
I majored in Public Relations and worked for Ikon Office Solutions my first year out of college. While working there I completed my teaching certifications. I am a certified generalist teacher with early childhood – 4th grade, ESL certified and Physical Education Pk-12. After college and my swimming career was finished, I wanted something to fill the completive void from years of swimming and running. CrossFit felt like the closest thing to having a “team” and sport. I love training with a purpose and always having something to work towards. While CrossFitting I also became involved in triathlons and was finally able to use my swimming career to good use. In the past year I have really enjoyed competing in triathlons and find CrossFit really compliments every aspect of triathlons.
I completed my first IRONMAN race on May 21, 2011 here in the Woodlands. It is the longest triathlon consisting of 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26. 2 run. All must be completed in under 17 hours. It took me 12:51. 1:04 swim, 7:00 bike and 4:31 marathon. It was one of the most rewarding, exciting, challenging and mentally taxing races I have ever experienced.
I like setting new goals, such as the Ironman, and believe everyone should set some kind of goal for themselves. It makes you focus on the task at hand, become responsible for your actions and what you do to achieve your goals. BUT, do not let it be a limiting factor, something you won’t be able to go above and beyond on. Having an idea of where you want to go is more like it, but don’t let anything stop you from believing you can do more!”
